Whilst I love adventures and exploring, sometimes I want to do nothing more than relax on a sun lounger with an exotic cocktail in hand. That’s why I planned a relaxing holiday to Mexico a couple of years ago. So when my travelling buddy booked us tickets for the Xplor adventure park during our trip, I thought it was going to be my least favourite day of the holiday.
Exploring Xplor Adventure Park
As it turned out, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The few hours we spend at Xlplor turned out to not just be my favourite part of our Mexico trip, but it was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had in my life.
If you’re planning to visit Mexico and are up for a challenging and thoroughly rewarding day out, here’s what you can expect from Xplor.
Xplor adventure park has the highest and safes zip lines in the whole of Cancun and the Riviera Maya. There are 14 zip lines in total which cover a staggering 3.8km of the park. The tallest zip line sees you soaring 45 metres above the dense jungle floor and eight metres underground, splashing into a cool and refreshing pool in an underground cave.
Xplor’s amphibious vehicles take driving to a totally new, exciting and exhilarating level. There are two different trials, each of which allows you to take control of your own 4×4-like sturdy vehicle and drive over suspended bridges, into dark caves and through huge puddles of water. You’re in total control the whole time, so you have to stay alert!
Underground Caves – Rafts
Floating on a raft through the underground caves at Xplor adventure park allows you to be within an arm’s reach of millions of years old stalactites and stalactites – a truly unique and magical experience. All these rock formations are totally genuine, no matter how much they look like the backdrop to a film.
Underground Caves – Swimming
The swimming underwater cave trails allow you to enjoy an even more immersive experience. After donning a life jacket and helmet, you’ll be able to swim through the 24°C water, past stalactites, stalagmites and bizarre rock formations that look like they’re from a different planet. One thing to remember – those black marks on the ceiling? They’re not rocks. They’re bats!
As you work your way through the park, the unique ID number on your helmet will set off the cameras which will snap photos of you during your day out. Since you have to lock your camera and phone up in the lockers at the start of your visit, this is a fantastic service! You can have a look at your photos and decide if you want to buy them at the gift shop on your way out.
If you’d like to visit Xplor adventure park, you can get some great deals throughout the year on hotels in Cancun, Mexico. Summer, Christmas and spring break are generally the busiest and most expensive times to go, so if you travel outside these seasons, you should be able to snap up a bargain.
