Washington DC Outlet Shopping
Leesburg Premium Outlet
Unsurprisingly popular among locals and visitors alike is Leesburg Premium Outlet. Located in the heart of Virginia’s Loudon County and just a short distance away from Dulles International Airport, the Leesburg outlet contains over 100 stores like Polo Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, and Burberry. On your way to an afternoon of Washington DC outlet shopping in Leesburg, stop by the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum in Chantilly and wonder at the incredible collection of aeronautical artifacts; from the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird to the space shuttle Discovery.
Clarksburg Premium Outlet
Another Washington DC outlet shopping favorite is the relatively new Clarksburg Premium Outlet. Seen right off Highway 270, Clarksburg sits in the scenic town of Clarksburg in northern Montgomery County in Maryland and is just 30 miles away from the District. It offers labels such as Hugo Boss, Salvatore Ferragamo and Armani just to name a few. The dining options within the outlet aren’t as extensive as Leesburg; but in nearby Gaithersburg and Rockville, you’ll have plenty of sumptuous options, particularly if you like Asian cuisine. Clarksburg Premium Outlet is also along the way to Sugarloaf Mountain where you can take a day hike and visit a vineyard, all in one afternoon.
Potomac Mills Outlet Mall
Frequent travelers along Interstate 95 can usually tell when they are nearing Potomac Mills Outlet Mall. Not only is it one of the few locations near the DC area with an IKEA; but also because traffic usually begins to backup a few exits before. Potomac Mills is one of the largest Washington DC outlet shopping locations with over 200 stores; including Ann Taylor Factory, Express Factory and Nordstrom Rack. Located in Woodbridge, Virginia, one of the fastest growing suburbs near the District; Potomac Mills also has a Costco Wholesale and an 18-screen cinema making it one of the few locations with shopping, dining and entertainment options. If the crowd begins to be too much, then drive your rental car about five miles north to Occoquan, a small town along the Occoquan River. While there, don’t forget to grab a pie slice or two at Mom’s Apple Pie.
