Top 5 Driving Routes in Australia

Great Ocean Road – Victoria

I couldn’t begin this list without a nod to one of Australia’s most famous roads. Stretching for 243 kms of cliff face against the southern-most coast of mainland Australia , the Great Ocean Road offers spectacular views of the Tasman Sea and the Victorian coastline. Not to mention the numerous wineries and fine dining restaurants scattered available for to stop in at.

Mount Panorama – New South Wales

Located in Bathurst, about a 3 hour drive from Sydney is Australia’s most famous race course. The great thing is, Mount Panorama also happens to be a public road. Anyone is allowed to go experience the infamous climbs, hairpins and straights for themselves. However, be careful not to channel your inner race driver too much since the road is limited to 60km/h and police regularly make patrols.

Adelaide Hills – South Australia

Famed for its picturesque forest and host to Australia’s annual cycling tour (Tour Down Under), the Adelaide Hills make for an amazing drive. There’s a multitude of routes you can take, but none will disappoint. Try and make it there during the Autumn months for some absolutely jaw dropping scenery.

Gold Coast Streets – Queensland

If you’re looking for another opportunity to drive like a pro, try out the Gold Coast streets that make up the Gold Coast 600 Street Circuit. Although you may not be able to absolutely floor it as they do in the annual V8 race, it’s still an enjoyable cruise around on of Australia’s best cities.

Providing fantastic views of the red centre of the country, as well I passing landmarks such as Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
