What To Do on a Date in Victoria, BC

Whether you are visiting Victoria on Vancouver Island in British Columbia with your long-time sweetheart or you have just matched on Tinder with someone new, you might be wondering where you can go in the city for a bit of romance. Fortunately, Victoria in Canada is a great place to go on a date as it has a lot of lovely spots and quite a romantic, peaceful atmosphere. Here are five romantic Victoria BC date ideas for where to take that special someone if you really want to sweep them off their feet.

Beacon Hill Park

This quiet oasis right in the middle of downtown is the perfect place for a romantic picnic. Bring a blanket and some snacks and stretch out on the grass in the sunshine. Sometimes if you time it right you can even listen to live music performances at the open-air stage. As you stroll hand in hand down the meandering paths, over stone bridges and past duck ponds, don’t be surprised if you spot a wedding party taking photos amidst the greenery of Beacon Hill Park.

Dallas Road

I know that “long walks on the beach” is a little bit cliche and cheesy, but you won’t mind when you see how gorgeous the views are here. Take a scenic walk with your sweetheart down Dallas Road with the ocean breeze in your hair while enjoying the views across the water to the Cascade Mountains in Washington State. On a windy day, bring a kite with you and fly it on the beach at Clover Point. Sitting by the ocean with your bare feet in the sand is the perfect moment for a first kiss or a 10,000th kiss.

The Empress Hotel

Built in 1908 this elegant hotel encapsulates all of the romance of the era and even just having a drink here will make you and your special someone feel glamorous. Get dolled up in your finest and treat yourselves to the classic Victorian afternoon tea service, but make sure you make a reservation at least two weeks in advance. If the Empress is out of your budget, try Murchie’s Tea Room on Government Street instead for lunch and a spot of tea.

The Galloping Goose Trail

This picturesque walking and biking Galloping Goose Trail on Vancouver Island will take you from downtown Victoria all the way through Saanich and out to beautiful Thetis Lake. Put on your walking shoes or rent a bike with your partner and go exploring, talking about anything and everything along the way as you pass through quiet forests, sparkling lakes, peaceful residential areas and lovely parks. There are plenty of opportunities to stop along the way and find a cute cafe for lunch.

Il Terrazzo

Located in the historical Old Town area of Victoria, Il Terrazzo is in my opinion one of the best romantic restaurants on the island for a perfect romantic Victoria BC date. You will be dining in a beautiful courtyard surrounded by candlelight and six brick fireplaces while enjoying tasty northern Italian cuisine as well as West Coast Canadian seafood and an extensive wine list. It’s the ideal spot for an anniversary or a Valentine’s Day treat.
