The main focus of the Camel Fair in Pushkar is of course the Camels. The owners of the camels ensure that the animals are taken special care of. They wash, groom and also decorate the camels with special camel jewelries other than the livery and the bells. Apart from buying and selling of the camels, the animals are also entered into the much publicized Camel Beauty Contest in which the camel with the best dress and jewelry wins the prize of beauty. The competition is rather fierce as there are more than ten thousand camels that participate every year in this Camel Beauty Contest.
Of course the Pushkar Camel Fair is not only about the live stocks trading. There are so many other activities that take place within the fair ground. There are several stalls that sell myriad of items like silver jewelries, bells, beadwork, leather goods, embroidery, paintings, printed textiles etc.
