Located in the heart of Albemarle County, Virginia, a short drive from Charlottesville, Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards is one of the top wedding venues and wineries in central Virginia.
Overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, this gorgeous place is a popular destination in the region because of its great food and fantastic wines. Everything they serve is made with locally grown produce and locally made products, all in a sustainable way, and is as fresh as it gets. They grow their own vines, veggies and herbs—its kitchen, garden, vineyards and farm all contribute to what appears on its seasonally changing menu.
Wine Flights and Cheese Boards at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards
The highlight of a visit to Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards is the wine tasting room, which offers wine samples, flights and pairings. Well-known for its Blanc de Blancs and signature Sauvignon Blancs, the winery also serves a good Chardonnay.
Both a much-sought-after wedding venue and a restaurant/winery, Pippin Hall Farm & Vineyards deserves a visit whenever you’re in the Charlottesville area.
Pippin Hill is one of the 30-something wineries that make up the Monticello Wine Trail, a historic area dotted with vineyards that have all been inspired by Thomas Jefferson, often considered to be America’s viticulturist. This gorgeous historic region with its rolling hills and beautiful farmlands is perfect for a road trip to a few wineries. This region is the very birthplace of American wine. Even though other regions might have grown to become larger and more renowned, this is where it all started.
I recommend using Charlottesville as a base—there’s plenty to see and do there—and renting a car for a few days to explore the breathtaking surrounding countryside, take in some wineries, and definitely also go for a drive in nearby Shenandoah National Park.
At Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, most visitors head straight for the tasting room, which is what you should do as well. There, you can try a wine flight and sample a selection of their exquisite wines. After you’ve found the type of wine you like best, you can order or glass or bottle and take a seat at the outside terrace to enjoy the magnificent views of the Blue Ridge Mountains while enjoying a meat or cheese board (or both).
