Get Ready for Your Summer Holiday

Checklist; get ready for your summer holiday

Getting ready to go on holiday is an exciting time, but it can be easy to put off preparing until the very last minute. With that in mind, we put together this short guide of what you can do to get ready for your summer holiday. After all, it is better to have a plan than to worry.

Get your house ready

No one likes the idea of coming back from vacation to a dirty, or worse, broken-into house. So, before leaving remember to get your house ready for vacation. The easiest way to do this is to start cleaning your house ready for your departure several weeks in advance. According to Nationwide, right before you’re ready to leave you’ll also want to make sure that you unplug your small appliances, set your water heater to “vacation mode,” turn off water valves and set your thermostats.

You’ll also want to make sure your house is as thief-proof as possible by ensuring your security lights are on and ready to go, and that you’ve parked your car in the garage. The key to making your house theft-proof is making it look as lived-in as possible. As an extra security measure you can set up a home security system that includes cameras and access to those cameras via your phone. You can even get a doorbell camera to see who is coming to your front porch.

Collect all your travel things

Before you can be ready for your summer holiday you need to have all your travel necessities ready as well. This includes your passport, luggage, money belt, packing cubes, international electrical plugs, visa and any of your other travel essentials. St Christopher’s recommends you print a check list to help keep you organized. If you print your list off in advance, you can look over it and slowly start collecting everything you need, so you won’t be in a rush to get it all right before you leave.

Get prepared physically

No one wants to go on vacation unprepared. Typically that means you want to have your body and mind ready to go.

In terms of your body, you’ll want to think about what you plan on doing while you’re gone. Are you physically fit enough to participate in the activities you planned? If not, can you get in shape in time? If the answer to that is no, you might need to plan alternative activities. However, if it is reasonable for you to be able to do the activities you’ve prepared, just make sure you’re going to the gym enough that it won’t be torture to do them. You want your holiday to be fun!

Beyond being able to do various activities while you’re gone, you might want to hit the gym so you can look your best for photos. According to Best Health you’ll also want to schedule times to get the rest of your body ready. Getting your appointments in takes a lot of planning. From hair removal to nails and a new dye job, there is a lot to do. You should schedule these far in advance.

As far as getting your mind ready to go, that’s another matter. Being ready to go on vacation mentally shouldn’t be overlooked. Make sure your work is done and you’re comfortable leaving it as is. You’re also packed, your house is ready, and your to-do list is done. If you don’t have a to-do list, making one is a great way to get you mentally prepared to take some time off and enjoy your holiday.

Have a great time

Now you’re ready for your summer holiday. You can vacation worry-free. After all, who wants to go on holiday and stress the whole time?

Bon Voyage!
