There is no better place to expand one’s knowledge of history and art than in a fully-air conditioned gallery. So drive to the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art and enjoy their art and culture exhibitions that suit all types of travelers. The gallery constantly change their exhibitions and activities, so there is always something new to discover.
Two words: Water Parks
Brisbane is home to a number of water parks. Don’t miss cooling off at Streets Beach in South Bank, which just screams summer season, all-year round. If you want to get away from busy Brisbane City with the kids, you can take a drive to Ipswich and spend the day in Robelle Domain. Apart from manicured lawns and great picnic areas, the kids would love splashing around in their water park complete with water spurts, jet sprays and tipping buckets.
Go for ice cream
What’s summer without ice cream, right? And Brisbane has a lot of gelato and ice cream shops to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you’re visiting Brisbane for the first time, stop by crowd favourite La Mecellaria for their classic Italian gelato. For a modern twist to an all-time favourite, head on down to Nitrogenie for their ice cream made with liquid nitrogen. Yum!
Cool down in Lamington National Park
Whether you’re going for a day tour or spending a few nights camping, you can immediately feel the temperature cool down when you arrive at Lamington National Park. Don’t forget to take snapshots of Elabana Falls – a bit of a hike, sure but it’s going to be worth it, we promise.
Brisbane is a vibrant, beautiful city with a lot to offer any type of traveler. And yes – it is one of the best cities in Australia to visit in the summer, too. So if you’re planning a weekend visit to Brisbane, or interested to stay longer make sure that you do plan your trip properly. If you have pets and won’t be able to bring them with you, make sure you have a great pet sitter to look after them while you’re away. Pet and house sitting in Australia has become quite popular because as much as we love to bring our pets along in every trip, sometimes it’s just not practical for us, or safe for the pet to do so.
