Can You Bring a Blender on a Plane?

Sometimes you want to bring the comforts of home with you for your travel plans.

Household appliances can add an extra layer of comfort to your trip, especially items like blenders that may not be available where you intend to stay.

Are you allowed to bring blenders or other appliances with you on planes?

Blenders may be brought in a carry-on bag if it fits in the overhead bins and the blades have been removed from the appliance. If the blades are not removed, the blender must be placed in your checked baggage and have the blades wrapped safely.

TSA Regulations on Blenders and Appliances

Blenders are allowed in checked baggage without restrictions. To carry a blender in your carry-on, you’ll need to follow a few specific rules.

If the blades are removed from the blender, it’s perfectly safe to bring through security with you as is.

If you don’t remove the blades, the blender will need to be treated like any other sharp object and must be placed in your checked luggage.

Any sharp objects in checked bags must be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent possible injury to baggage handlers.

Anything that could be considered a weapon must adhere to specific rules regarding whether it can be brought on a plane or not.

Sharp blades, box cutters, knives, corkscrews, ice picks, and darts are examples of items that are not allowed in a carry-on.

There are some exceptions to this rule for items like disposable razors and knitting needles, though this is determined at the discretion of the TSA agent on duty and sharp objects must adhere to size limits and be safely stored.

Can You Bring a Kitchenaid Mixer on a Plane?

Mixers, like blenders, are allowed in both your carry-on and checked baggage. They both follow the same guidelines for safely traveling with them.

Any blades in your mixer must be removed from the appliance if you intend to pack it in your carry-on bag.

If the blades are not removed, the blender must be placed in your checked luggage instead and the blades must be protected.

It’s also important to remember that any mixer you want to pack in a carry-on must meet the size and weight requirements of your airline.

Generally, this just means it must fit in the overhead bins for safe storage in transit.

Can You Take Small Kitchen Appliances on a Plane?

If the appliance you intend to bring does not violate any rules regarding sharp objects or electronics, you can bring it in your carry-on or checked bag.

Small kitchen appliances such as crock pots, blenders (without the blades), camp stoves, pots, pans, or even air fryers can be brought onto planes.

The one thing to keep in mind is that these items must fit in overhead bins for the airline you choose to fly with.

What Items Are You Not Allowed To Bring Onto a Plane?

Generally, weapons are not allowed in carry-on bags and must be placed securely in checked baggage.

In most cases, this includes replicas, antiques, and toys, whether they can realistically function as a weapon or not.

All liquids in carry-on bags must adhere to TSA’s 3-1-1 rule. This allows each passenger to bring three liquid items that are under 3.4 ounces (100 ml) in a carry-on bag.

They must be placed in a one-quart plastic bag and each passenger may have one such bag in their carry-on.

Keep in mind that rule applies to any liquid, gel, cream, paste, semi-solid, or aerosol. Liquid medications and baby formula are notable exceptions to this regulation.

Medications in solid form are allowed on planes but can slow down your security screening if not properly packed.

Try to keep all medications in the prescription bottles assigned to you by a doctor and make them easily accessible.

When it comes to items that are outright banned from baggage, expect explosives, illegal drugs, any kind of fuel, flammable objects, paint thinner, chlorine and other chemicals, bleach, and self-defense items to be denied.

In the case of some items such as liquids, firearms, or sporting equipment, passengers may be allowed to bring the objects on their trip but must adhere to specific regulations.

Firearms must be packed in checked luggage and safely locked. Liquids may be carried in checked luggage but still have some limitations on quantity and type of liquid.

Can You Bring a Water Bottle on a Plane?

Water bottles are allowed on planes, but you can not pass through security with a full water bottle. Drinks in a carry-on must follow the 3-1-1 rule when presented for the security screening process.

Empty water bottles are allowed through security and can be filled at water fountains and filling stations inside the airport, and past security checkpoints.

The only restriction on water bottles is that they are empty during screening.

Packing a water bottle is a good way to save money on expensive airport drink prices and stay hydrated during your trip.

Alternatively, frozen drinks are allowed through security. If you want to bring your favorite drink with you, make sure it’s frozen and stays frozen during screening.

Any drink that is partially frozen, slushy, or has liquid in the bottom of the container must adhere to the 3-1-1 rule.

Completely frozen beverages are able to pass security screenings and are permitted in passengers’ bags.

Conclusion

Blenders may be brought in a carry-on bag as long as the blades are removed and they can fit in the overhead bins of your plane.

If the blades are not or can’t be removed, the blender must be placed in your checked luggage.
