Best Cruise Lines for a Stress-Free Holiday with Teens

Whilst holidaying with the kids can be one of the most rewarding experiences ever – think spending quality time together, creating new memories and really getting to know one another – it can also be a total nightmare – think tantrums which last for days, total family fall-outs and the seemingly never-ending repetition of “I’m bored”. If you’ve got a teenager you don’t want to leave behind the next time you set sail, consider booking with one of these best cruise lines for teens. All of them offer incredible extras for teens, guaranteed to keep everyone (including mum and dad!) smiling from start to finish.

Best Cruise Lines for Teens

Royal Caribbean

One of the best cruise lines for teens is Royal Caribbean. It owns the biggest cruise ships in the world and Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas in particular are perfect for holidaying with teenagers. Each of these ships is quite literally a floating playground, bursting with swimming pools, water slides, ice rinks, rock climbing walls, basketball courts, theatres and mini golf courses. Better still, each ship has an exclusive club where teens can hang out. Young teensTweens (ages 12-14) get one club with rock climbing competitions, dodgeball, dance dance revolution, talent shows and movie nights, whilst older teens (ages 15-17) get pool parties, teen dinners, karaoke nights and Wii competitions.

Upcoming cruise: Allure of the Seas sets off on a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise on March 20th.

Princess takes one of the biggest downfalls of kids-only zones – the fact that they’re inside (not even kids want to be stuck indoors when the weather is bright and sunny outside) – and remedies it by extending their kids’ club so that it includes a dedicated outdoor area with cool club-style lighting, modern seating areas and teen-exclusive swimming pool. Travellers aged 13-17 can also enjoy activities specifically designed for their age group, including mocktail parties, formal dinners, video game tournaments, hip hop dance classes and late-night movies.

Upcoming cruise: Royal Princess sails on a ten-night cruise around the Southern Caribbean on March 23rd.

Carnival is another cruise line which treats teens like the important guests they are. Club 02 is an exclusive teens’ club for ages 15-17 which comes complete with a teen-only zone, a dedicated teen club director and teen-exclusive activity programme. Each ship with a Club 02 programme features a music lounge with dance floor, cool lighting and DJ booth, plus a video game lounge with Xbox and Wii tournaments. But the fun doesn’t end there! The extensive activity programme includes everything from scavenger hunts and sporting events to karaoke sessions and late-night discos, guaranteed to please even the fussiest teens.

Upcoming cruise: Carnival Spirit embarks on a ten-night cruise around the Pacific Islands on March 14th.
