Biograd na moru is located between the northernmost and southernmost points of the Croatian Adriatic. These attractions include three national parks, two nature parks and multiple historical sites. Going north of Biograd, you will come across the cities of Zadar and Nin. Zadar, known as the “city monument”, is home to numerous historical monuments such as the pre-Romanesque Church of St. Donatus. Nin city is the cradle of the world’s smallest cathedral. In the past, this exceptional 9th century church was used as a calendar and a sundial because of the position of its windows.

2. Sports and Recreation

Biograd has an array of offers when it comes to sports and recreational activities. A 10-minute walk from the downtown brings you to a tennis center, situated in close proximity to the Drazica and Soline beaches. This tennis court is equipped with lighting fixtures, making it possible for guests to play at any time. Located in the immediate vicinity are courts for basketball, handball, football and outdoor bowling. Furthermore, Biograd has numerous mapped bike routes, which are divided based on the difficulty of the terrain. The biking routes stretch along Pakostane and Vrana lakes. Camping Park Soline is situated in Soline Bay, right next to the beach. The four-star campsite has 850 plots, 350 of which have complete plug-ins, 400 camping spaces with plug-ins and 100 plots for mobile homes. The facility is fully equipped with camping facilities ranging from shopping to entertainment. However, tourists can choose among other smaller camping sites such as camp Dijana, camp Biograd, and the Mediterranean Village San Antonio.

Biograd is the perfect starting point for sailors across the world. First off, it is strategically located in the most indented part of Adriatic Sea. Secondly, it boasts of a vast number of islands, along with several national parks. The modern marina has been equipped with at least 1000 sea berths and 200 land berths. What’s more, tourists can easily rent a boat in Croatia from local charters and sailing clubs that operate within Biograd area. The best time to go sailing in Croatia is between April and October. During this period, there is sunny weather and the sea temperature is appropriate for swimming. Typically, the whole archipelago of Biograd is ideal for sailing given the mild tidal waves and weak sea currents.

If you are passionate about fresh or saltwater fishing, Biograd has the perfect spots to practice your hobby. In the city’s hinterland is the Vrana Lake, one of Croatia’s biggest lakes. Part of the seawater penetrates into this lake, making it rich in both freshwater and marine species. Eel, Prussian carp, catfish, and the northern pike are some of the common freshwater species. The most prevalent saltwater fish are mullets. Nonetheless, you will need a permit license to fish on the Vrana Lake.
